This is probably what all of you will be saying after this post. :) At least I know Uncle Ryan will be muttering something along these lines - oh and probably Brandon too.
So the time finally came - the opportunity for us as parents to have a huge impact on our kids lives, something that they will remember. Well I took it man......and ran with it. Brent and I were able to be the teachers for an hour in Kaitlyn's class today - we had to talk about an artist, Wassily Kandinsky, and then plan an activity. PERFECT....totally up my alley. Brent had a meeting at work, but it probably turned out to be a good thing as I am sure I would have embarrassed him!:)
Kaitlyn and I planned for a week in advance - first off that is a great skill in itself teaching her about how doing a little bit at a time rather than procrastination. Anyway, she and I decided (okay mostly me with a little persuasion) that acting like the artist would be more fun for everyone. So Kaitlyn memorized an introduction and then helped me make up a costume. We went in there full force...pretending to have Russian accents (No comment Chelsea), paint brushes, painters' hats and scarves. We even wore Brent and my old graduation gowns for added effect.
It was awesome and you could tell she loved it. We actually were asked to come back to the other Kindergarten class to do our show for them. It just was super fun to be right there with Kaitlyn as she told the class all that she knew about this artist, especially since she was trying to do it with this funny accent (that I promised her sounded Russian).
Oh I am already thinking about what I can do with Addison and Jacoby.....YEAH! I love being a MOM......but I promise once they hit high school I will cool it on the silly activities in their classroom. :)
