Happy Halloween 1,2,3

1. Carve your Jack O'Lantern for the big night
2. Gather your friends and get dressed in your fun costume

(Our spooky pumpkins are ready to greet all unsuspecting guests)

3. Go...run from house to house giggling the whole way and collecting way too much candy:)

Halloween 2010 was a blast. The kids loved it and so did the parents although I am regretting some of the latter part of the evening when Brent and I decided to partake in some of the spoils of the evening:)

Poor Kaitlyn, Addison & Jacoby

This is probably what all of you will be saying after this post. :) At least I know Uncle Ryan will be muttering something along these lines - oh and probably Brandon too.
So the time finally came - the opportunity for us as parents to have a huge impact on our kids lives, something that they will remember. Well I took it man......and ran with it. Brent and I were able to be the teachers for an hour in Kaitlyn's class today - we had to talk about an artist, Wassily Kandinsky, and then plan an activity. PERFECT....totally up my alley. Brent had a meeting at work, but it probably turned out to be a good thing as I am sure I would have embarrassed him!:)
Kaitlyn and I planned for a week in advance - first off that is a great skill in itself teaching her about how doing a little bit at a time rather than procrastination. Anyway, she and I decided (okay mostly me with a little persuasion) that acting like the artist would be more fun for everyone. So Kaitlyn memorized an introduction and then helped me make up a costume. We went in there full force...pretending to have Russian accents (No comment Chelsea), paint brushes, painters' hats and scarves. We even wore Brent and my old graduation gowns for added effect.
It was awesome and you could tell she loved it. We actually were asked to come back to the other Kindergarten class to do our show for them. It just was super fun to be right there with Kaitlyn as she told the class all that she knew about this artist, especially since she was trying to do it with this funny accent (that I promised her sounded Russian).
Oh I am already thinking about what I can do with Addison and Jacoby.....YEAH! I love being a MOM......but I promise once they hit high school I will cool it on the silly activities in their classroom. :)

and 2 Stitches Later :)

Addison's Battle Wound

Ok so it has finally happened: our 1st ER visit where we knew we would need stitches or a cast or something more serious than antibiotics. Poor Addison spent 5 minutes at her dear friend's birthday party at a park when she fell. Addy's little tooth went right through her bottom lip - we knew it was going to need more than TLC so we headed to the ER right away. Addison was very brave as she needed just topical treatment and then have the stitches put in...WOW that was a hard one for dear old Mom....I can't tell you how difficult it is to tell your child this is the best thing for them even though you know it hurts them in the short term. My heart broke a little at that point when I had to hold her down especially since she could see everything the DR. was doing. Thank goodness for true friends too (drumroll please.....Mary Kay) as who else would come and sit at your house in their PJ's until a very late hour so both Brent and I could be there to take Addy home. All in all though, we are doing great and are glad it is all behind us. We get the stitches out at the end of this week. We have had ice cream and slushies so I think are spirits are improving rapidly!!! :)

Break A Leg....

And now presenting Kaitlyn in the role of STOMPER - the loudest elephant.
And now presenting Addison in the role of the LOST HIKER - she jumps in a pond of water and loses her group.
Their stage was so cute with props and all....
Kaitlyn on stage after the narrator introduced her character. Sorry that was all the pics I could get as Jacoby refused to remain nicely seated in my lap...he wanted to move man (totally understand that)....don't worry though Brent got it on video.
