Ramblin' Rockwoods....

Here we sit in the car after roughly 12 hours of driving through the fun states of Texas, Arkansas, Tennessee, Missouri, Illinois and now Indiana. I think we have hit on average 2 gas stations every hour, much to Brent's chagrin! Normally I would say road trips are nothing and we get through them easy as pie; however this particular trip seemed quite exhausting! We hit rain, snow, sleet, hail and anything else that could come our way. I clearly remember now why we moved to a warmer climate! (Seriously, it was 80 degrees yesterday in Texas!)

There are also some nuances that I remember from my childhood that have resurfaced on this trip. One of those funny moments was the constant asking of "Are we there yet?" Now, having to experience the question on the other end is humorous! I promise you the girls were not even out of our neighborhood before they asked if we were in Indiana. :) Kaitlyn wanted to know whether it was going to take two or three minutes to get all the way to Indiana. Bless their hearts....I wish I could be that innocent again about time!

Ugh, another part of the road trip that can be both good and bad are the car snacks! I think all our tummies are hurting from the Cheezits, Teddy Grahams, Pringles, Mountain Dew, Apple Juice, Red Bull...okay I had a couple apples and some pears in the mix, so it was not all bad! But still Grandma's cooking is going to be a warm welcome!

Alright we are almost there, just saw the new Colts stadium....GO HORSE! Gotta help with directions....Brent is driving!

Santa's Coming to Town....

So we went and saw Santa this week, oh wait excuse me, we went and saw Ho Ho as the girls call him. I have to tell you the operation was slick. The Santa was by far the most realistic Santa I have ever seen with a real white beard and all. Not to mention, that the house it was held at looked just like you would think Santa's house would look with cookies, a huge Christmas tree and tons of comfy little chairs all around (for the elves of course!). Kaitlyn loved it and brought her Christmas wish list which included drums and an apple basket (SO Funny as I have no idea where the latter one came from....but I rolled with it!) Addison did not like Santa although we were able to get a picture taken if Mommy sat on Santa's lap too...this poor Santa! Anywho - it was a night of great fun! Kaitlyn's list: Drums and an Apple Basket

We LOVED Mrs. Claus as she passed out the Christmas cookies!!!

The girls in front of the huge tree that they had at this house.

Here is one of the pictures with Santa. However they did have a photographer who took a nice photo of the three of us! I will be sure to post that when we get it back.

nostalgic for days gone by

My grandparents first Christmas as husband and wife in their new apartment. Isn't it crazy to think how our grandparents and great grandparents celebrated the holiday season?

We Came, We Saw, We Conquered!

Santa Fe, NM was fabulous for Thanksgiving. The city brought in the Christmas season with candle lights lining the streets and the rooftops - Santa also paid a visit and the main Plaza was filled with singers (who by the way were singing Elvis Christmas songs so I was in heaven!).

The girls enjoyed checking out all the art and the amazing Indian culture. We actually went to a pueblo one day. It was certainly eye opening even for Brent and myself.

On Thanksgiving Day we made a ham, mashed potatoes, stuffing and pumpkin pie....so we did have almost all the fixings of home. The condo we stayed in was fabulous. Seriously though we had some great QT as a family...Kaitlyn has found a new love of the game Connect Four (so has Daddy!).

On the drive there we stopped in Amarillo and spent the night in a hotel that had an indoor pool - so the girls LOVED going swimming again. It actually worked out great to break the trip up like that; however on the way back Brent just drove straight through. Now we are looking forward to Christmas! YEE-HAW!
