our first day of school

Well, I cannot believe it. We have finally reached the point where both of our little sweeties are in school. I was so excited at first and now the extreme quiet is freaking me out! (No doubt I will get used to it!) I can't wait to pick them up and go get ice-cream - I figure ice-cream will help them spill the beans about their first day.

Kaitlyn woke up ready to go she had her outfit picked out the night before and her backpack all zippered up. Kaitlyn is a "Funky Monkey" this year and has Ms. Julie and Ms. Colleen as her teachers. They seem so sweet and excited about some new adventures. She was certainly ready for me to stop taking pictures and her day to begin. I love that she loves school so much - it is a real treat!

Addison was probably even more excited than Kaitlyn. She kept repeating to me "Mama, Addy school too and I no cry!" It was so adorable I almost did not want to let her go. She is a "Hoppin' Frog" this year with Ms. Pam. Funny story: As we were getting accustomed to her new room we were supposed to drop her lunch box in a big bucket with everyone else's - well that did not happen. Addison clung to that lunch box like no tomorrow - I guess she really is our daughter after all!!!

Our little babies are growing up so fast - if I could freeze time at this age I would in a heartbeat. I am just so thankful that the Lord blessed us with two amazing and kindhearted daughters - our world certainly would not be the same without their laughter, smiles or hugs. See today was a little miracle in itself, I have found a new appreciation and love for my family.

remembering the joy

Today was a hard day - as the girls and I woke up to a phone call from Uncle Bob stating that Marilyn Espenlaub had passed away in the early hours of the morning. Now, let me start by saying that although I have not known Marilyn for an enormous amount of time, I can tell you that she certainly was a neat lady. Always dressed to the nines with numerous activities to conduct before the day was through. I certainly admired that about her and hope to emmulate in my later years of life. There is no question that we should not lose heart. Outwardly Marilyn was wasting away, yet inwardly she was being renewed day by day. For her light and momentary troubles were achieving for her an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. Therefore, I reminded the girls today to fix their eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal. (See 2 Corinthians 4:16-15:8)
