Candy Cane Rich is back

So our little elf on the shelf, Candy Cane Rich, has come back to spend this fun holiday time with us. I am not sure though who likes it more Brent or the kids. Tonight you can see our little buddy is sporting Jacoby's tennis shoes and a mini basketball all while dangling from an upper windowsill. Seriously, Brent laughs and loves placing the elf around the house every night! He is still laughing about this placement and has high hopes for some kind of zipline for tomorrow. They are all so cute!!

A night on the town

These special nights don't happen that often anymore...which is fine by us as I know we both prefer to be in comfy clothes at home laughing with the kiddos. Thus, when they do we enjoy them to the fullest. Our night celebrating one of OKC's oldest landmarks...schmoozing with the oldies but goodies!

Our first sleepover

Gosh, we have been putting off this day for a long while, but finally it has come and rightfully so. Kaitlyn and Addison have their best friends here who are also sisters (so fun) and we have had them for a sleepover a couple times so now it was time to reverse it.

Truly I was fine this afternoon taking pictures and packing their bags. I think though in the back of my head I thought, "oh, they will call and want to sleep in their own beds tonight, no worries."
Well they just called not to have me run over to get them, but to tell me they loved me and they were having a blast! They were watching a movie before bed and neither child was even remotely considering coming home before the pancakes tomorrow morning.

Don't get me wrong I am so happy, but it is a little eerie in the house. Almost as if this is a glimpse at what it will be like when they leave for college-quiet very quiet!

Thank goodness I have so many more crazy, noisy sleepless nights to get through before it happens for real. These quiet reflective moments enable you to appreciate the greatness of what everyday life entails!



Okay Saturday bring on the noise, but slowly as the more I sit in this peaceful state the more I could get accustomed to this all over again! (just kidding)


P.S. Jacoby was Buzz all night long and loved the 1 on 1 attention.

Oh goodness, it has been a while since I last posted. Sorry, life right now seems to be moving faster than I can keep up with. Well too, if it is between blogging and running outside being goofy with the kids - of course I am choosing the kid time!

Life is just a bowl full of cherries! We all are fantastic and getting in the school groove. Kaitlyn had her first spelling test and did great, Addison had a bible quiz and she did better than I would have, and our little man continues to crack us all up!

September is going to be crazy busy for us, but with God's help we will make it through! :)

Can we say Emotional?

So I am not really your emotional gal, I mean every once in a while you will catch me in a soft moment and tonight certainly was one!

I put Kate to bed tonight on the eve of her 7th birthday. She wanted to hear the story of her birth-which is so fun. Then we just cuddled and talked about what a huge milestone tomorrow is...not only will our sweetie be 7, but she will also be starting her first day of full day school.

We talked about what it would be like, her new teacher, what if our dear friend Billy is not in our class, etc.

Indulge me for a minute in this ramble, but let us just talk about this Billy. He called our house today and asked for Kaitlyn, but before that because I volunteered all last year in the classroom he talked with me for 5 minutes about his summer all the while calling me Mrs. Rockwood. Don't get me wrong it is way to early for a boy to be calling our house (we talked about that too), but at least he was an adorable polite Christian boy!

Anywho, as the talk and cuddles continued it hit me like a load of bricks...this amazing, sweet, funny, loving creature who has been by my side for the last seven years will no longer be there for the majority of the day! I started to cry- Kate laughed and said what are you going to do when I go to highschool? (I didn't want to tell her this but maybe I would look into working at the school? Too crazy?)

I am still cuddling her now as she is fast approaching dream land - wishing somehow the clock would rewind so we could watch her grow up all over again. No question we are so blessed to have had 7 truly stupendous years filled with countless memories. Of course there will be so many more to look forward to, just seems like right now my heart and mind want to put a little pause button on life in order to soak in today as much as we possibly can!!!!

How excited we are....

Getting the oil changed really excites these munchkins!

A very productive day!

Well let's see:
1. Went for a run/pushed bikes for roughly 3 miles
2. Everyone took a shower
3. We took some stuff to Goodwill
4. We got Addison and Jacoby's haircut with minimal screaming (Kate wants hers to grow longer)
5. We got all school supplies
6. We played with all the balls and cars we could reach at Toys R Us
7. We stopped at DSW to see if I could use a coupon and tried on some fin heels ( we r in trouble withe girls and their high heel passion)
8. We all made it home in time for a little nap!
